Statement

I see humans as the bridge between animal and machine. Our biology roots us in the natural world, but we constantly strive to find synthetic substitutes for our needs, thus distancing ourselves both symbolically and literally from the earth. The more control we impose on the earth's complex natural processes, the more we disrupt our own ecosystem. Living in an environment of GMOs, over-medication, and highly processed food that is fueled by a nonrenewable energy source, I question the relationships we have with the natural world, each other, and our own bodies. I synthesize imagery of animals with images from our industrial society to illustrate the complex position of humans.
